Günther Anders, Endzeit und Zeitenende
December 7, 2013
Jean-Pierre Dupuy from the École Polytechnique, Paris and Stanford University, made "Mourning the Future" available. In the essay, he presents Anders' discussions of catastrophe and the concept of the future in the face of the total modern threat to the planet.
Anders used Noah's flood story in a parabolic way. Parables can, more than philosophy or argument, prompt new cognitive awareness. As Dupuy notes, "our capacity to blind ourselves in the face of obvious suffering and atrocity is the main obstacle the prophet of doom needs to circumvent."
