This Illustrated Book of Mormon (chs. 7-8) summarizes the story of Lehi building a ship at God' bidding. The ship then crosses the ocean to the promised land, encountering great oceanic turmoil along the way. Laman and Lemuel had tied up Nephi, in an act of unrighteousness. The storms continued to grow until Nephi was released. The journey was blessed from that point forward.
This tale seems like a combination of three great oceanic stories in the Bible: Noah's ark, Jonah's ocean voyage, and the Exodus crossing to the promised land. (The blog image comes from this book.)
